E--pure rock fury

This is Eric. He's my wifes brother, a good friend, and a pretty good photographer in his right. It's a good day when the 2 of us are able to load our gear in the truck and take off. Maybe it's the ease of the company that has allowed me to shoot the shots of him I have. This is a small sampling of those shots, but I think some of the better shots. This collection here might just be some of the best portraits I've done period. They are spontaneous and in the moment as well as honest and revealing. Please be sure to check his blog.

Playing with fire

Ok a few more from camping, sorry but it's really been the only chance I've had to shoot something other than youth sports action. My favorite part of camping is drinking beer around the camp fire. This has the whole crew in here I'm on the left, then Rog and his son Zane, Brett is next and then Theo. The kids had fun with sticks in the fire, is there anything more mezmerizing than fire? The other shots are of places we visited, the Astoria Column, The light house on the North Head Of Cape Dissapointment at the mouth of the Columbia River, and a shot of my hass, on the beach....kinda strange I guess, but it was the look I'm hoping for from the film I was shoot in it.

More from the beach

Some more shots from my camping trip a week or so ago. These are from the second day. Went into Astoria to kick around wound up down by the docks the Red Eagle caught my eye, this boat has seen some rough miles, this photo doesn't show all the dents and dings, but it's in pretty rough shape. The sunset was not real colorful, so I shot it black and white and my buddy Rog took a shot of me while he held onto my digital camera for me. The birds in the sunset are pelicans, they flew by by the dozens kinda funny kinda weird.

Happy 4th

Ok these are from the 3rd, and a couple days late, but work and all that other stuff has kept me from posting sooner. We did family fireworks out to the farm because Uncle E would be there, and it just sounded like fun. The family fireworks, the stuff from the stands has always been my favorite, as opposed to going and seeing a big fireworks show, we always did our own growing up. The 4th was always a great night. We were going to go see a big firework show on the 4th, but we were a little too tired so we staid home, the boys protested, but not too much. I kinda wanted to go so I could get a couple shots of the big ones to post, but these will work.

Camping with the boys

Took a couple days off tis week and went camping. A boys trip, a friend and his son and my 2 boys. Went to the Northern Oregon Coast Ft. Stevens to be exact, just a ways out of Astoria, OR. Had a great time. The camp ground is about half a mile from the wreck of the Peter Iredale, a ship that ran aground there in 1906. A shot of it here along with a pic of my oldest eclipsing the sun, and another sunset pic from the first night there. Took a ton of shots, will try to post some of the kids and other sites we took in.
