Gallon House Bridge

Took these on my way home Thursday afternoon. The Gallon House bridge is just outside of Silverton, and even though I drive by it, and even over it on occassion, it's not one of my favorite subjects to shoot. What actually made me stop was the tree and sun and the road-I'm a sucker for any shot I can work a road into. The other 2 pics were after thoughts.

Fall Colors

The colors have been really nice this year, but I haven't been very good about shooting much of it. On my way home from Eugene on Saturday I stopped along these tracks. Really wanted to get down on the tracks, but the black berries and a big ditch kept me out of it.

These are a couple of shots I took just outside of the window next to the computer desk I've been spending too much time at lately.

Football in the Rain

Something about the rain and the bald head I thought was kind of funny.

Dusk in the orchard

Was out to the farm last Saturday, went for a walk after dinner as the last of the light from the sunset was fading. Digital capture in these conditions makes for some interesting affects. I used photoshop to enhance the looks I got from the exposures. I was looking for something a little rough, a little edgy. Theo hanging out at the end of one of the orchard rows.
These trees had been severly pruned, and that allowed the available light to come thru canopy of leaves, a pool of soft light in the darkness.

Kiger gorge

A couple more shots from Kiger, hopefully they give some perspective to how big this gorge is. Gotta love old guys busting the flex pose. And a pic of myself, just for the heck of it.

Man Trip-Day 2

The second day of our trip we drove from Frenchglen up to the summit of Steens Mnt. For now I will just post the drive to Kiger Gorge, the first OMG overlook of the day. The road up isn't too bad, you could probably drive a car up it. We stoppped at Fish Lake to check it out. We tried to put the sneak on a critter to get a shot up close, but had better luck sneaking up on the wild flowers, mostly lupine and indian paint brush. Kiger Gorge is an amazing sight, we sat there and scoped it out for a while. It is truly and impressive place.

Man Trip Day 1

On 7-12-08 Trent, Roger and myself embarked on "Man Journey 2008." Armed with Trent's new truck, a general idea of where we were headed; Steens Mnt, with Frenchglen, and the Frenchglen Inn/Drover Inn, serving as a base camp, and plenty of beer, we set out that Saturday morning. Our first night there we took a drive thru the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, one big swamp and mosquito haven. Lots of wildlife and scenery, but you have to excuse the lack pics from this portion of the trip, the mosquitoes were unbearable, but I did manage to get a few. The fire watch tower is covered in turkey vultures coming in to roost for the night. Saw a few mule deer, including one really nice buck. And did mannage a couple of scenery shots in the beautiful evening light

Wild Horse Canyon

From the summit of Steens Mountain, looking South down Wild Horse Canyon. Wild Horse Lake can be seen in the one pic, there is a trail down to it, but we opted not to take that hike this time, maybe next.
