Morning Glory

I know some call these weeds, but in certain places I think they are quite stunning.

Hike in

Thes shots are from 2 years ago. My oldest son Theo and my brother in law E took a hike into Marion Lake and camped for the night. A cold wet night, but it was still pretty fun. I thought I would post a couple of images from that trip because Theo and E http://eenphotos.blogspot.com/ both have been asking when we are going back. Soon I hope.

Champ Car 04

In my last post I mentioned that in the past we had some sweet pit passes. Well I thought I would share just what I meant by that. In the past a friend of mine had a friend who was pretty well connected to Champ Car, and the friends of this friend enjoyed the benefits, as you can see. Due to a change in proffesional dynamics we, as a group were unable to accept such generosity this year. Such is life. And the old guy there is Paul Newman, he is part owner of the McDonald's car, who just happened to win that day, as well as this years race too.

PDX Grand Prix

Pics from the Portland Champ Car race yesterday, 6-10-07. A few changes this year, the race wasn't held on Father's Day, traditionally this was the day the race was on, now our wives have to deal with us, what will they do? Another change is that the source for our sweet pit passes we've had in the past has dried up, no more being right in the pits, only separated from the crews and tire changes by a 3 foot concrete barrier. This year we sat in the Festival Curves, a series of a hard right turn into a hard left turn right at the end of the home straight away. It's a place where there is typically a lot of action, wrecks and passes and what not. No wrecks and we were actually hoping for a little rain about 2/3rds of the way thru the race as the #1 McDonald's car driven by Sebastian Bourdais had come from 2nd place-13 seconds behind the leader-and overtook the #9 car driven by Justin Wilson, and had taken a 13 seconds lead. And at 200mph a 13 second lead is pretty substantial. We all thought a good down pour would make it a little more interesting. It was a great day, good friends and decent weather. Busted out the hibatchi and and had a couple beers, good day.

The old Barn

More from the archives, and from the farm. I stumbled across these shots a while ago and thought it would look good on the blog, and since I don't have any new stuff to put up now seems like a good time to post these. I took these a couple of years ago with my buddy/bro-in-law E. Both he and I have lived out to this farm at different times, and we have spent many hours wandering around in the dark looking for things to photograph. We spend a lot of time at the barn. This night we turned the interior lights on. The outside is lit by a sodium vapor lamp f some sort, thus the green glow. E and were talking last night and decided it was time for another night time photo session out here.

Golfing

Spring sports are coming to an end here, that means state championships, and lots of them. Spent 4 days shooting "action" at the band and orchestra competition, action is a relative term in this case. So it felt pretty good to spend a day outdoors on a beautiful golf course. Here are a couple of shots I kept from that competition.

Flock of Sea Gulls

Went to the Coast over spring break a couple weeks ago. The first day we got there the wind was blowing really hard, so hard that the sea gulls were just hanging in the air. Made it easy to catch some interesting pics.

Addition

Been too long since I last posted, spring break and a bad back have had me either on the go or flat on my back. A couple of months ago we lost the first pet my wife and I had together, a cat named Boo Radley-perfectly named-He was really my wifes pet and she had recently decided that she was ready for a new pet. I wasn't too excited about another cat, so when she said she was thinking about a beagle, I said sounds good to me..meet Curious George. Nancy my wife found him at a beagle rescue outfit. So far he has been an excellent fit with the family. Well behaved affectionate and he gets along with our other dog, Bob, they have a great time chasing each other around the yard. Now if I can just get him to stay in the yard.....

Gone Fishing

Done mostly sports lately thought I would change it up a little. Went way back for some of these, went looking for some more abstact stuff. I love abstact photography when it's well done and not just an excuse to be some whacko with a camera, although one of the beauties of digital photography is the abitility to just take pics and not worry about the outcome because you can alway delete them. St. Paddy's day = Brew day

Had a rare Saturday off this week. Seemed like a good day to brew something up, was a beautiful day. What you see here is an Imperial stout. The kit was sent to me by my brother in Montana, said my primary fermenter had been empty too long. Thanks JM! My primary is no longer empty, as a matter of fact it's bubbling over. Glad I checked on things before I went to bed last night and put the blow off tube on, if I hadn't have there would have been a mess all over the floor and maybe the ceiling, and this stuff is sticky sticky.
